bedikah
Checking for leaven
Bedikah is a Jewish religious inspection or examination.
Most commonly it refers to the self-examination a woman performs to determine whether menstrual bleeding has ceased, using a white cloth to check for any discharge before resuming physical intimacy with her spouse.
The term also applies to the inspection of a slaughtered animal's organs to ensure it is kosher: The rabbi performed the bedikah before approving the meat.
