beardies
Scaly Australian pets
Beardies is an affectionate informal term for bearded dragons—popular pet lizards native to Australia.
The word also refers to bearded collies, a shaggy herding breed.
In either case, the nickname comes from the distinctive facial hair or scales: My beardies love basking under their heat lamp.
