avgas
Cessna tank contents
Avgas is aviation gasoline, the fuel used in piston-engine aircraft.
Unlike jet fuel, avgas is a high-octane gasoline formulated to prevent engine knock at high altitudes and varying temperatures.
Most avgas still contains tetraethyl lead, making it one of the last leaded fuels in common use: The airport's avgas supply was running low.
