aspheric
Lacking perfect curvature
Aspheric describes a lens or mirror whose surface departs from a perfect sphere.
Spherical lenses are easier to manufacture but introduce optical distortions; aspheric designs correct these aberrations, producing sharper images with fewer elements.
Common in camera lenses, eyeglasses, and telescopes: aspheric contact lenses, an aspheric mirror.
