post-traumatic

After the trauma

Post-traumatic describes conditions or responses that follow a traumatic event.

The term appears most often in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a condition marked by flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety after experiencing violence, disaster, or other severe distress.

More loosely, post-traumatic can describe any aftermath of difficult experiences: post-traumatic growth, still feeling post-traumatic about that breakup.
