apartheid regime
Racial separation state
A government enforcing apartheid—the system of racial segregation and white supremacy that governed South Africa from 1948 to the early 1990s.
The apartheid regime classified citizens by race, restricted where Black South Africans could live and work, and denied them political rights.
The phrase now appears in accusations against other states: Critics call Israel an apartheid regime.
