anthropomorphize
Give human traits
To anthropomorphize is to attribute human characteristics, emotions, or intentions to something nonhuman—animals, objects, natural forces, or abstract concepts.
People anthropomorphize pets by imagining they feel guilt or spite: She thinks her cat judges her.
The tendency runs deep in human psychology, appearing in children's stories, religious traditions, and everyday speech about weather that "wants" to ruin picnics or computers that "refuse" to cooperate.
