aneurisms
Dangerous vessel swellings
Aneurisms is an alternative spelling of aneurysms, the plural of aneurysm—a bulge in a blood vessel wall caused by weakness in the tissue.
Aneurysms are dangerous because they can rupture, causing internal bleeding: a brain aneurysm, an aortic aneurysm.
The spelling with -ism is less common than -ysm but appears in older texts and some medical contexts.
