ammeters

Electrical flow measurers

Ammeters are instruments that measure electric current, calibrated in amperes.

The word combines ampere and meter.

An ammeter connects in series with a circuit to measure the current flowing through it: The ammeter showed a reading of 2.5 amps.

Digital ammeters have largely replaced older analog models with needle displays.
