alt-left

Extreme liberal faction

Alt-left is a term coined as a counterpart to alt-right, intended to describe a radical or extreme faction of left-wing politics.

Unlike alt-right, which was self-adopted by a specific movement, alt-left is primarily used by critics to suggest equivalence between far-right and far-left extremism: The commentator blamed both the alt-right and the alt-left for the violence.

The term remains contested, with many arguing it describes no coherent movement.
