academic press
University publishing house
An academic press is a publishing house affiliated with a university or scholarly institution, specializing in scholarly books and journals.
Unlike commercial publishers, academic presses prioritize advancing knowledge over profit, often publishing specialized research with limited commercial appeal: Oxford University Press, Harvard University Press.
The term also refers to scholarly publishing as an industry.
