Wight
Island near Portsmouth
A wight is a creature or living being—an archaic and literary word that survives mainly in fantasy contexts.
In modern usage, particularly in games and fiction, wights are undead creatures: reanimated corpses with malevolent intelligence.
The word appears in older texts simply meaning person or man: hapless wight, luckless wight. (The Isle of Wight is a different word.)
