Wars of the Roses
English dynastic struggle
The Wars of the Roses were a series of English civil wars in the 15th century between the houses of Lancaster and York, rival branches of the royal House of Plantagenet.
Each house used a rose as its emblem—red for Lancaster, white for York.
The conflict ended when Henry Tudor defeated Richard III and united the houses through marriage, founding the Tudor dynasty.
