A VJ is a video jockey—someone who introduces and presents music videos, particularly on television.
The term emerged with MTV in the 1980s, modeled on DJ (disc jockey).
VJ also refers to a visual artist who mixes and manipulates video in real time at clubs or live performances: The VJ projected abstract visuals synced to the DJ's set.
