UNCF
Black college fund
UNCF stands for the United Negro College Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and funding to historically Black colleges and universities.
Founded in 1944, it's known for its slogan "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." The acronym is sometimes pronounced as a word rather than spelled out: She received a UNCF scholarship.
