Topeka
Sunflower State seat
Topeka is the capital city of Kansas, located in the northeastern part of the state along the Kansas River.
It gained historical significance as a center of the abolitionist movement before the Civil War and later as the site of the landmark *Brown v.
Board of Education* Supreme Court case challenging school segregation.
