Texas tea
Unrefined petroleum slang
Texas tea is slang for crude oil, evoking the petroleum wealth that transformed Texas in the early twentieth century.
The term gained wide recognition through the theme song of the 1960s television show *The Beverly Hillbillies*, where it appears alongside "black gold": Up from the ground came a-bubblin' crude—oil, that is, black gold, Texas tea.
