bonanza

Stroke of fortune

A bonanza is a source of sudden wealth or good fortune—originally a rich vein of ore in mining: They struck a bonanza in the hills.

The word now applies to any windfall or abundance: The merger proved a bonanza for shareholders, a bonanza of new customers.

A bonanza episode in television is a special extended installment.
