Spanish tiles
Curved clay shingles
Spanish tiles are curved, semi-cylindrical roofing tiles, typically made of terracotta, that interlock in alternating rows—one concave, one convex—to shed water.
The distinctive red-orange tiles are characteristic of Mediterranean, Mission, and Spanish Colonial architecture: The house had a Spanish tile roof and stucco walls.
The term also applies to decorative ceramic wall tiles featuring colorful, often geometric or floral patterns associated with Spanish and Portuguese design traditions.
