sod roof
Living green top
A sod roof is a roof covered with growing grass or turf, typically over a layer of birch bark or other waterproofing material.
Traditional in Scandinavia and other northern regions, sod roofs provided insulation and blended buildings into the landscape.
The technique has seen revival in sustainable architecture: The cabin had a traditional sod roof with wildflowers blooming on it.
