Sir Gawain
Arthurian knight figure
Sir Gawain is a knight of King Arthur's Round Table, appearing throughout Arthurian legend as Arthur's nephew and one of his most loyal companions.
In early Welsh and Continental romances, he represents the ideal knight—brave, courteous, and honorable.
He is best known from the medieval poem *Sir Gawain and the Green Knight*, where his virtue is tested through temptation and a supernatural challenge.
The title "Sir" marks his knighthood.
