Sassanid Empire
Last Persian dynasty
The Sassanid Empire was the last Persian empire before the Islamic conquests, ruling from the third to seventh centuries CE across present-day Iran, Iraq, and parts of Central Asia.
The Sassanids revived Zoroastrianism as the state religion and were Rome's principal rival in the East.
The Sassanid Empire fell to Arab armies in 651 CE.
