Rolodex

Rotating address cards

Rolodex is a trademark for a rotating desktop card file used to store names, addresses, and phone numbers.

Each card could be flipped through or removed.

Though the physical device has largely disappeared, the brand name persists as a metaphor for professional networks: His Rolodex is full of Hollywood executives. (Lowercase rolodex is the generic term.)
