Auguste Renoir
Auguste Renoir was a French painter (1841–1919), a founder of Impressionism known for luminous, sensual depictions of everyday life—particularly women, children, and social gatherings.
His style emphasized warm colors, soft brushwork, and the play of light on skin and fabric.
Works like Luncheon of the Boating Party and Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette capture the pleasures of bourgeois Parisian life.
Later work moved toward more classical forms.
Usually called Renoir; the full name distinguishes him from his filmmaker son Jean.
