Queenslander

Raised tropical home

A Queenslander is a person from Queensland, Australia's northeastern state.

The term also refers to a distinctive style of elevated timber house developed in Queensland's subtropical climate—built on stilts to catch breezes and avoid flooding, with wide verandas and corrugated iron roofs: The old Queenslander had been beautifully restored.
