Port Elizabeth

Algoa Bay metropolis

Port Elizabeth is a major seaport city on the southern coast of South Africa, in the Eastern Cape province.

Founded in 1820 as a British settlement, it serves as an important industrial and manufacturing center, particularly for automobiles.

The city overlooks Algoa Bay and is sometimes called "The Friendly City" or "The Windy City." In 2021, it was officially renamed Gqeberha, though Port Elizabeth remains widely used.
