Pennines

Northern England's ridge

The Pennines are a range of hills and mountains running north-south through northern England, often called "the backbone of England." The range stretches roughly 250 miles from the Peak District to the Scottish border, separating northwest England from Yorkshire and the northeast.

We hiked across the Pennines on the Pennine Way.
