P
Letter before Q
P in its earliest form was Greek in shape, resembling an upright backwards scythe.
It became rounded in Roman form, and in Imperial times the semi-circle was completed, mirroring today’s familiar form.
However, early Roman inscriptions show lower curve not joined to downward stroke.
