Oneidas

New York tribe

The Oneidas are a Native American people originally from present-day central New York, one of the six nations of the Iroquois Confederacy.

During the American Revolution, they allied with the colonists—unusual among the Iroquois nations.

Today Oneida communities exist in New York, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

The word also refers to their Iroquoian language.
