Mohawks
Keepers of flint
The Mohawk are an Indigenous people of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, originally from the Mohawk Valley in present-day New York State.
The name also refers to their Iroquoian language.
As an adjective, Mohawk describes things relating to this nation: Mohawk territory, Mohawk traditions.
The hairstyle takes its name from a misattributed association with Mohawk warriors. (Lowercase mohawk is the hairstyle or a skating turn.)
