Norfolk Island

Pacific Australian territory

Norfolk Island is a small Australian external territory in the Pacific Ocean, located between Australia, New Zealand, and New Caledonia.

Originally settled by Polynesians and later used as a British penal colony, it became home to descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers who were relocated from Pitcairn Island in 1856.

The island is known for its distinctive Norfolk Island pine, a tall conifer now cultivated ornamentally worldwide.
