Midianites

Moses's in-laws' tribe

The Midianites were a nomadic people of the ancient Near East, descended according to the Hebrew Bible from Midian, a son of Abraham.

They appear throughout the Old Testament as both allies and enemies of the Israelites—Moses married a Midianite woman, yet later Israelite armies warred against Midian.

The Midianites and Amalekites raided Israelite settlements.
