Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye (1939–1984) was an American singer, songwriter, and producer whose work helped define the Motown sound and later soul music.

He began with romantic hits but evolved into socially conscious work exploring poverty, war, and urban despair.

His intensely personal later recordings addressed sexuality and spiritual struggle.

Gaye was shot and killed by his father during a domestic dispute.

His influence on R&B, soul, and pop remains profound.
