Land's End

Britain's southwestern tip

Land's End is the westernmost point of mainland England, a rocky promontory in Cornwall where the land meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The phrase has become shorthand for geographic extremity, often paired with John o' Groats (Scotland's northeastern tip) to represent the full length of Britain: They cycled from Land's End to John o' Groats.

Figuratively, land's end suggests any place where solid ground gives way to sea or void.
