Dungeness

Kent coastal promontory

Dungeness is a headland on the southeastern coast of England, a windswept shingle peninsula in Kent.

The name attaches to several things associated with the area: Dungeness crab, a large edible crab species from the Pacific coast of North America named after Dungeness Spit in Washington State, itself named after the English headland.

Dungeness also refers to a nuclear power station on the Kent peninsula.
