Kona coffee
Big Island beans
Kona coffee is coffee grown on the slopes of Hualalai and Mauna Loa volcanoes in the Kona district of Hawaii's Big Island.
The volcanic soil, tropical climate, and afternoon cloud cover create distinctive growing conditions that produce beans prized for their smooth, mild flavor with low acidity.
True Kona coffee commands premium prices; blends labeled "Kona" may contain as little as 10% actual Kona beans.
She brought back a bag of genuine Kona coffee from her Hawaiian vacation.
