Kama Sutra

Ancient pleasure manual

The Kama Sutra is an ancient Sanskrit text on erotic love and sexual behavior, composed in India sometime between the 3rd and 5th centuries CE.

Though popularly associated in the West with illustrated sexual positions, the work is primarily a guide to virtuous and gracious living, covering courtship, marriage, and the conduct of relationships.

They joked that the Kama Sutra was required reading for newlyweds.

The title combines kama (desire, pleasure) with sutra (a thread or text of teachings).
