erotic art
Provocative visual works
Erotic art depicts sexual subjects—nude bodies, sexual acts, or scenes intended to arouse.
The category spans ancient Greek pottery to Renaissance paintings to contemporary photography.
What qualifies as erotic art versus pornography depends on context, intent, and who's judging: The museum's erotic art collection includes works by Klimt and Schiele.
The distinction often hinges on claimed artistic merit.
