artistic nude
Unclothed aesthetic subject
An artistic nude is a photograph, painting, or other visual representation of the unclothed human body created with aesthetic rather than pornographic intent.
The distinction emphasizes composition, lighting, and form over sexual arousal: The gallery featured artistic nudes from the 1920s.
The term often appears in content policies and photography communities to differentiate legitimate art from explicit material, though the line between them remains perpetually contested.
