Dumbo

Aerial circus pachyderm

Dumbo is the title character of Disney's 1941 animated film—a baby circus elephant ridiculed for his enormous ears, which ultimately enable him to fly.

The name has become shorthand for an unlikely underdog who triumphs, or for someone with prominent ears.

Dumbo is also a neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. (Lowercase dumbo is an insult meaning stupid person.)
