IL-6

Fever-promoting protein molecule

IL-6, or interleukin-6, is a protein that regulates immune responses and inflammation.

The body produces it during infection, tissue injury, or stress, signaling other immune cells to respond.

Elevated IL-6 levels are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions, autoimmune diseases, and severe infections: Her IL-6 levels were dangerously high during the cytokine storm.
