Hydrox

Original sandwich cookie

Hydrox is a chocolate sandwich cookie with cream filling, first sold in 1908—predating Oreo by four years, though Oreo came to dominate the market and made Hydrox seem like the imitator.

The name suggested purity, combining hydrogen and oxygen.

Production has been intermittent; the brand has been revived by nostalgia-driven companies: I prefer Hydrox to Oreos.
