sandwich cookie
Cream-filled treat
A sandwich cookie consists of two flat cookies with a filling between them—cream, jam, or frosting.
Oreos are the iconic example, but the form includes everything from homemade whoopie pies to delicate French macarons.
The filling binds the halves and provides contrast in texture and flavor.
