anhydrous

Lacking all moisture

Anhydrous means containing no water.

The term appears mainly in chemistry to describe compounds from which water has been removed or that naturally lack water molecules: anhydrous ammonia, anhydrous ethanol.

Anhydrous forms of substances often behave differently from their hydrated counterparts and may react vigorously when water is introduced.
