Battersea

South London neighborhood

Battersea is a district in south London on the River Thames, historically industrial but now largely residential and gentrified.

It is home to Battersea Park and the iconic Battersea Power Station, a decommissioned coal-fired plant whose four white chimneys became a London landmark and appeared on the cover of Pink Floyd's *Animals* album.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, a prominent animal rescue charity, has operated there since 1871.
