Tri-Cities

Three adjacent towns

Tri-Cities refers to any of several urban areas comprising three neighboring cities that function as a single metropolitan region.

The most common American references are the Tri-Cities of eastern Washington (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland) and eastern Tennessee (Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport).

Other regions use the term similarly: I grew up in the Tri-Cities area.

The specific cities meant depend entirely on local context.
