Goosebumps

Kids' horror franchise

Goosebumps are the tiny bumps that form on skin when cold or experiencing strong emotion—fear, awe, excitement.

The bumps appear when small muscles contract around hair follicles, a vestigial response from when body hair was thick enough to trap warmth or make an animal appear larger to predators.

The horror movie gave me goosebumps.

Also called gooseflesh or goose pimples, from the resemblance to plucked poultry skin.
