Good King Wenceslas is a Christmas carol telling of a Bohemian duke who braves harsh winter weather to bring alms to a poor peasant.
The song, set to a medieval tune, celebrates charity and the Feast of Saint Stephen (December 26).
Wenceslas was a real 10th-century Czech ruler later canonized as a saint.
The carol remains a staple of English-language Christmas music: We sang "Good King Wenceslas" while caroling through the neighborhood.
