Glagolitic script

Medieval Slavic writing

Glagolitic script is the oldest known Slavic alphabet, created in the 9th century to write Old Church Slavonic.

It was later largely replaced by Cyrillic in most Slavic regions but survived for centuries in Croatia for liturgical use.

The name comes from a Slavic word meaning "to speak."
