Flying Tigers

WWII China fighters

The Flying Tigers were American volunteer pilots who fought for China against Japan before the United States entered World War II.

Officially the 1st American Volunteer Group, they flew shark-faced P-40 fighters and became legendary for their combat record.

The name now evokes daring aerial combat and distinctive nose art.

My grandfather flew with the Flying Tigers.
